My usual hangout

From the time I started going to Vanier College in 1986, I needed to go to Saint-Laurent more often. At first it was for school and a few years later I went to the YMCA on Decarie Boulevard to exercise with my friend Mike. I held jobs in the area before and after graduating from college, up until I bought my first car I was forced to commute by bicycle, bus and foot.

 

Now I mostly hang out in the same area with my friend Carl. We often go to coffee shops to drink quality coffee, then we chat and see friends. In the summer I drink a coffee frappuccino with whipped cream and in the winter a hot cappuccino with cinnamon and my friend drinks a double long espresso. These are moments to be cherished with an old reliable friend.

 

We enjoy going to Place Vertu shopping centre in the western part of Saint-Laurent. We often go to Adonis supermarket and I have a soup and we buy some products at special prices. Other times we pass by 5e Avenue Uomo, a men’s clothing store and chat with Steve, who works there and likes to joke around.

 

I drive regularly through Bois-Franc, an area just west of Marcel-Laurin Boulevard, north of Thimens Boulevard, south of Henri-Bourassa Boulevard and east of Cavendish Boulevard. This is an area that has existed for over 20 years and was intended to offer residents an exceptional quality of life. Now Bois-Franc has grown considerably and has green space, nice houses and lakes.

 

It’s a vast multicultural area and there are people in my age group that speak English better than French like I do. It’s convenient to live in or nearby because of the different services available such as gyms, subway stations and swimming pools. The quality of life is good in Saint-Laurent, that’s why I like going there often.
